Eddie Stack
Eddie Stack was born in Ennistymon, Co. Clare and emigrated to the United States in 1986. He settled in San Francisco and founded The Island, an Irish journal.
His short story collections are The West (US, Island House, 1989/London, Bloomsbury, 1990); for which he received a Top 100 Irish American Award,and Out of the Blue 2004). He has also released The West, a CD which features four stories from his collection of the same name, read by Eddie Stack with music by Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill.
He was co–founder and artistic director of the Irish Arts Foundation in San Francisco, and was a member of the Irish trad group Last Night’s Fun with Tommy Peoples, Paddy Keenan, Johnny Moynihan and the late Shane Holden.
Due out in 2008, The Doolin Book includes interviews with Micho Russell and Paddy Shannon as well as profiles on the Russell and Killoughery brothers.
His stories are also available as PDF ebooks from www.tintaun.com. He received an American Small Press Publisher of the Year Award in 1992 for pioneering work in desktop publishing.
